About
The Pell Grant is a federal education grant that is given to millions of undergraduate students each year. It was designed to benefit students that demonstrate an “exceptional” financial need, and while this may make sense in the eyes of the Department of Education, many students and parents don’t have a clear idea of what that means exactly. Financial need is the difference between the cost of attendance minus any money that the student and his/ her family is willing to contribute towards the appropriate education-related expenses, which is primarily measured via the expected family contribution, or EFC.
To qualify for a Pell Grant the EFC must be below 5,273, with lower EFC values resulting in higher award amounts. Becoming eligible doesn’t stop there though, as the student must also satisfy the Pell Grant specific, and general federal student aid requirements that are in place. All together this can be an overwhelming process for any student or parent who hasn’t already applied for the Pell Grant and other forms of federal student aid before, and for this reason I created PellGrantRequirements.net. Ultimately I want to provide both students and parents with a comprehensive resource about the Pell Grant that can be looked upon with confidence, and over time I would like to add more articles and other information about getting federal student loans and other federal education grants.
Contributors and Use
My name is Glen Clarke and I’ve worked in the financial aid industry for over twenty years and am currently employed at a small school in the Midwestern part of the U.S. I a have a firm understanding of the Pell Grant program, and would consider myself an expert about all things related to federal student aid. I routinely help students and parents get the financial aid they need to pay for school, and I understand some of the more common issues that arise during this process.
That being said, I am currently the primary contributor of PellGrantRequirements.net, although over time I plan on recruiting additional authors and providers of content that will be able to contribute to the site. The articles and other assets that are found on PellGrantRequirements.net are meant to provide answers to students and parents, and are therefore written in a very simple, and direct manner. In then end I wanted this site to be very user-focused, and to provide answers that could be quickly understood and utilized.
Using this site is actually very easy to do, and I recommend taking advantage of the main navigation bar that is found on the top of the site to locate particular articles. Using the category links that are found in the sidebar is another way to go about finding something, and if you have a particular query in mind it may not be a bad idea to use the search bar as well. I should be adding content on a fairly routine basis, and to see some of the most up-to-date articles it is best to check with the “recent articles” listing that is also found in the sidebar.
I hope you all enjoy the use of PellGrantRequirements.net, and if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to send me a message via the contact form that is provided here, thanks!
-Glen Clarke
